FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Are Chenier Shotshells plated?
A: Negative. We do not plate or coat our shells with any other metals.
We use the highest quality bismuth available that holds up against fracturing. Plating shot is like a rotten peanut with a candy coating on the outside, hiding the imperfection of the core. Our core shot is superior and produces great patterns as is, therefore there is no need to coat our shot.
Q: Do you make any blended shells?
A: We do not blend any different types of metals into our shells. They are straight bismuth. We have found through extensive testing that when different metals are introduced with each other, the density discrepancies really do more harm than good for wing shooting in terms of pattern results. They look good on paper, but the density is stacked and not what you'd look for in a hunting scenario.
Q: Why should I shoot bismuth over steel?
A: Bismuth has a higher density than steel, it is often compared to the density of lead that was known and loved by many waterfowlers for years. From an economic standpoint, we literally feel it is the best "bang for your buck."
Q: What choke should I be using with Chenier Shotshells?
A: Like stated above, bismuth is similar in density to lead, meaning it is a softer metal. This being said, we have found that our shot will pattern exactly as advertised for whatever choke tube you prefer running. There is no need to "choke down" our shot.
Q: Can I use Chenier Shotshells in my old shotgun?
A: You absolutely can. As a matter of fact, we encourage it. Like said previously, it performs similar to lead, which those older guns were built to cycle.
Q: Do you have a Pro-Staff?
A: We have a group of individuals who have been with us since the beginning to help develop and test our product into what it is today.
Q: What makes Chenier different than other bismuth shells on the market?
A: We took the time to develop our product in the field. In real hunting scenarios. Not just by shooting paper or into jello.
